Yes, I am an archaeologist. Terrible shame about that, but it's what I like.

Right now, I'm a cultural heritage planner for the City of Hamilton. My big job is drafting the Archaeology Management Plan for the City. Outside of that, it's reviewing development applications to ensure that archaeology is addressed appropriately, writing and reviewing archaeology reports, and do a lot of non-archaeology cultural heritage (like built heritage, and cultural heritage landscapes).

As far as non-aministrative archaeology goes, I have several interests/specialties. I do research on the Paleo-Indian horizon in the Great Lakes region of North America: this is what I did my post-graduate thesis on. Specifically, it was on the dig I conducted at the McLeod site in southwestern Ontario, and the subsequent lithic tool and debitage analyses I carried out. So, yeah, another of my specialties is counting really small rocks. This is why walkmens were invented.

Outside of that, I have worked on paleoecology (mainly fossil pollen) and geomorphology, as pertains to paleo-landscapes in which paleo-peoples would live. This is cool, although pollen analysis is another reason walkmens were invented.

Beyond this, I am of course computer geek, and my interest/specialty of applying GIS in archaeology is a final focus of my work. I'm also branching out into remote sensing, for similar uses.

Back home...
